What is Resurfacing Laser?
Laser Resurfacing is becoming more and more popular. It is a great way to supercharge your anti-aging regime or to treat acne scaring, uneven skin tone and sun damage. The most well known version is CO2 laser. While this is a fantastic treatment, the downtime is quite extreme and can be 10-14 days of severe redness and swelling. For this reason, at The Hook Clinic, we use a slightly less ablative laser- and Erbium Yag. The results are not dissimilar but the downtime is much less with redness and swelling lasting around 48-72 hours.
We use the Lynton Resurface laser and have been getting fantastic results for patients. We often get asked by people in their 60s or 70s if it is too late to start with a laser- no it isn’t! We are getting fantastic results in this age group as well as those in their 30s-50s. Laser Resurfacing is great for tackling lines and photoaging and generally evening out the skin tone and texture.
To super charge your treatment you can ‘stack’ it with the IPL treatment which will target broken vessels, redness and sun spots. This 2-in-1 treatment is one of our most popular for big events like weddings, 60th birthdays, special holidays etc. Just remember you will need to do this no closer to an event than 1 month.

Technology
The Lynton ReSurface® is a fractional Erbium YAG laser operating at 2940nm — a wavelength with exceptional precision and water absorption. It delivers thousands of microscopic treatment columns into the skin, stimulating deep collagen renewal while leaving surrounding tissue intact for faster healing.
Results
3–7 days. Expect redness and warmth for the first 2–3 days, followed by some bronzing and light flaking as the skin sheds and renews. Social downtime should be planned for accordingly.
sessions
A course of 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is standard. Results build progressively with each session and continue to improve for several months after the final treatment. However for many people 1 session can offer enough improvement.
Process
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied in clinic 30–45 minutes before the laser begins. The treatment itself takes 20–45 minutes. Protective eyewear is worn throughout and a soothing post-treatment product is applied before the client leaves.

Downtime

Most clients report mild discomfort and liken it to a sand paper feeling. We use numbing cream and techniques to minimize discomfort. The short-term sensation is well worth the results.

We carry out a full consultation before recommending treatment. While many skin types are suitable, we carefully assess your skin tone and history to ensure safe, effective results. It is not recommended for darker skin tones.

You will be very red for at least 48-72 hours. After this you will have some dryness and flaking. It will be about 7-10 days for full recovery.

Most clients achieve best results with 2-3 sessions. However, for maintenance or those will less sun damage often 1 session can be enough.

With proper skincare and sun protection, results can last 12 months. We provide ongoing guidance to help you maintain your results long-term. Yearly maintenance sessions advised.
