What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are non-surgical cosmetic treatments used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and fine lines. They work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause expression lines in the face.

Anti-wrinkle injection also known as Botox are used to treat what we call dynamic lines. These are lines formed by excessive movement such as frown lines. Botox is a nuromodulator which stops the muscle doing the movement it would normally do. This allows the skin time to heal and wrinkles to settle.

Our doctor will advise. A single treatment delivers results. Most clients return every 3–5 months for a top-up, and results often last longer with regular treatment over time.

A consultation is conducted before any treatment. The appointment itself takes 15–30 minutes. A fine needle is used to place small amounts of product into targeted muscles — most clients find the sensation very tolerable with no anaesthetic required.

 FAQs

  • Most people find anti-wrinkle injections only mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. The needles used are very small and fine, so the sensation is usually quick and tolerable. People often describe the feeling as a small pinprick or a slight sting or pressure. The discomfort is usually very brief, because each injection takes only a few seconds.

  • We carry out a full consultation before recommending treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections are effective for certain types of wrinkles, but they are not suitable for every skin condition or type of wrinkle.

  • The most frequently reported effects are redness at the injection site, mild swelling, bruising, tenderness or slight pain, small bumps where injections were placed or headache. These reactions are typically mild and short-lived.

  • Most clients achieve best results with sessions spaced 3-4 months apart.

  • Typically 3–4 months, after that effects gradually wear off as muscle activity returns and slowly regain movement and wrinkles may gradually reappear.
